What does it mean to do a handstand kickup?
Handstand kickups are a great way to strengthen your core, arms, shoulders, and spine. If you can not easily do a hand stand, that is okay.
Hand stand kickups are an alternative way to do hand stands. Instead of coming into a full hand stand, you will start with the hands and one foot on the ground and one leg in the air. You will then carefully kick the leg in the air all the way up, following the movement with the foot on the ground, until you are temporarily balancing on just the hands. Using the core here to stabilize you, you would hold the hand stand for just a moment before allowing yourself to come back down.
The goal here is not to hold the hand stand but just to temporarily kick your way up into it to work your muscles. This is a great way to build your strength up to being able to hold a hand stand for longer and longer each time.
Eventually, you might even be able to do a full hand stand without needing to kick your way up into it.
