Benefits of yoga before bed

DSC4019 scaled

When you stretch out your body at the end of the day it helps release the tension from the day. Even just doing a short, easy flow can help you sleep better. Yoga can help you relax your mind and body by lowering blood pressure and the cortisol in your body. Typically at the end of a yoga class we end in Savasana or corpse pose. Quite literally you lay down on your back with your arms by your side. Since this pose doesn’t require any movement or strength it can help promote slowing down your heart rate.

Below are more postures that will help you sleep better:

  • Legs up the wall
  • Reclined butterfly
  • Childs pose
  • Happy baby
  • Bridge pose
  • Standing forward fold
  • Supine twist
