Why are yoga blocks so helpful?
One of the best props to have when practicing yoga is a yoga block. Yoga blocks are great for helping to safely deepen a pose when you cannot quit reach, and they can also help to bring the ground closer to you. For example, if you are doing a standing forward fold, and you reach for your toes and find out that your hands do not quite touch your feet, you might use yoga blocks in front of the feet or to either side of them to bring the ground closer to you.
Yoga blocks can also be helpful for balancing poses. In the video above, we demonstrate how it is possible yo use one, or multiple, yoga blocks to assist your balance. If you have trouble getting into and holding balancing poses, having a yoga block might be the answer to increasing your balance.
The video above focuses on Warrior III (or airplane pose) and how to use a block to come up into the pose and hold it. This is a great tip for beginners or those who are simply working on bettering their stability.
